Ward 4 Councillor Evelyn Dutrisac says she is removing herself from the executive committee of the Sudbury and District Health Unit Board because of a conflict of interest.

The councillor’s son, Roland Dutrisac, works as a nurse at the health unit.Dutrisac said she was nominated to the executive committee, which hears financial matters involving salary, and will remove herself from those discussions but adds she’ll still sit on the board.

“I really have an interest in health care, I used to participate with the health unit and that’s why I got on board because I really believe that prevention and health issues are important. “

Dutrisac said she’s worked with her son on many projects, such as a skate exchange and establishing walking groups.

“I understand I would have a conflict of interest if the wages or any money to him would be allocated. I would not be able to vote and I recognize that. I would remove myself from the discussion."
