The culvert connecting Alexander Street to Jacob Lift Station has collapsed and has been removed due to flooding, the city announced Tuesday.

“It is not safe for residents to cross the creek at this time and notification signs have been installed on both sides,” a news release said.

Greater Sudbury is looking into building a replacement pedestrian bridge and a community session will take place with residents before construction begins.

On Lasalle Boulevard, meanwhile, catch basin structure replacement will close the westbound curb lane in front of the Caisse Populaire, from 8 p.m. tonight until 8 p.m Wednesday.
