The Sudbury and District Labour Council will again be holding a service as part of the official Day of Mourning, organized by the Canadian Labour Congress.

The Day of Mourning recognizes and remembers Canadian workers who were killed, injured or disabled on the job.

This year's ceremony will take place in the main foyer of Tom Davies Square starting at 9 am on Saturday, April 28.

Local 6500 of the United Steelworkers will hold its own ceremony the same morning at the Steelworkers Hall, beginning at 11:30 am.

Leo Gerard, the Sudbury man who is now the international president of the United Steelworkers, will again return to Sudbury from his head office in Pittsburgh, to participate in the event.

Sudbury was the first region in Canada to officially declare April 28 as an official Day of Mourning.
