Death and grief go hand in hand, but it becomes more complicated when children are involved.

As the second and final part of its pediatric palliative care seminar series, Warmhearts Palliative Caregivers Sudbury/Manitoulin is presenting three seminars, under the series title Grief and Loss Related to Children: Young and Adult: Process and Coping Strategies.

The three seminars occur on Nov. 26 and 27 at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel.

Dr. Bill Webster, founder of the Centre for the Grief Journey, is a TV host and international speaker, and will be presenting the three seminars.

On Nov. 26, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Dr. Webster will present, Children Living and Dying: Grief the Healing Journey. It will focus on how the pain and grief of a child's death can become a pathway to healing and hope.

On Nov. 27, 9 a.m - noon, Helping Children Cope with Grief, a seminar examining how children grieve and the issues different ages face while grieving will be the topic Dr. Webster addresses.

Later that day, between 1-4 p.m., Dr. Webster will present Crisis Management: The Care Provider's Role. This will cover how a caregiver can help parents, siblings, and others during the crisis situations that come up after the death of a child.

Dr. Bill Webster not only understands the theory of grief and loss, but has experienced it personally as well.

In 1983, Caroline, his wife, died suddenly. He was left to cope not only with the loss of his young wife, but also left to care for their two sons, who were only seven and nine years old.
