Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union gave away 13 bicycles to some lucky young members of the School Caisse program at their annual bicycle giveaway.

A draw was held in the 13 schools that participate in the School Caisse program in Sudbury and Coniston.

“The bicycle draw in each of the schools encourages children to become involved in the program and motivates them to make regular deposits,” said Jean-Marc Spencer, Executive Director of Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union.

“We would like to thank all of the employees from the credit union and the schools that helped with the operation of the School Caisse. Without them, the program wouldn't exist."

More than 400 students participated in the 2017-2018 School Caisse program from schools in Sudbury and Coniston.

The School Caisse program is a way to instill sound money management skills in kids. It allows them to count their own money, calculate their total deposit and fill out their own deposit envelope.

Whether they deposit a dime, a quarter or a loonie the amount is irrelevant, what’s important is that they acquire a good savings habit.
