The engineer facing criminal charges after the 2012 collapse of the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake appeared in Sault Ste. Marie court on June 24.
The case was moved to the Sault after Robert Wood waived his right to a preliminary hearing earlier this month in Elliot Lake.
Wood was charged in 2014 with two counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Wood worked for the now-defunct Sault-based engineering firm M.R. Wright and Associates which conducted a structural condition inspection of the Algo Centre Mall's leaking roof and parking deck on April 12, 2012 - two weeks before the mall’s roof-top parking deck collapsed.
Two people - Doloris Perizzolo and Lucie Aylwin - died and dozens more were injured.
A judicial pre-trial is scheduled to take place Sept. 2, after which a date for trial is expected to be set.
