Environmental Public Health Week takes place Jan. 17-23

Environmental Public Health Week, Jan.
Environmental Public Health Week, Jan. 17 to 23, recognizes the hard work of certified public health inspectors and environmental health officers across Canada, and the importance of environmental health programs to our health care system, according to a press release from the Sudbury and District Health Unit.

Environmental Public Health Week was established in 2003 by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors to acknowledge the work done by environmental public health professionals and to raise public awareness about the profession.

Public health inspectors and environmental health officers provide services in a number of areas including food safety, air and drinking water quality, outbreak management, and prevention of food-borne illnesses.

The health unit is proud of these dedicated professionals who are committed to promoting and protecting public health, and continually meeting new environmental challenges that can affect human health.

Information displays will be set up at Sudbury and District Health Unit offices in Greater Sudbury, Chapleau, Espanola, Mindemoya, and St. Charles.

For more information about Environmental Public Health Week or services provided by environmental public health professionals, please call the Sudbury & District Health Unit at 705-522-9200.
