A filmmaker who produced a film about his father's struggles with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease will be the keynote speaker at the Société Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin’s annual Alzheimer Awareness Dinner Jan. 24.

The dinner takes place at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Brady Street in Sudbury beginning at 6 p.m.

When Chris Wynn's father, John Wynn, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the relatively young age of 57, Chris decided to chronicle his family’s journey to John’s final days.

“An honest, moving, and at times heartbreaking film, Forgetful Not Forgotten weaves past and present to both celebrate the man who was and mourn his painfully slow and steady disappearance,” a press release from Société Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin stated.

“Forgetful Not Forgotten succeeds on all levels, delivering an empathetic message of hope and encouragement to anyone touched by Alzheimer’s.”

Tickets to the event are on sale now for $50, or $375 per table, by phoning the Alzheimer Society at 705-560-0603.

Tickets must be purchased before Jan. 17, 2012. For more information, visit
