On Sept. 15, an Expo is being held in celebration of Sudbury's premiere lifestyle magazine's fifth anniversary.

Brandi Ransom, marketing and special events co-ordinator with Sudbury Living Magazine Group, said the “interactive show” is designed to showcase some of the hidden gems Sudbury has to offer.

“It's more of an experience than a show,” Ransom said. “It teaches you a lot about what Sudbury has to offer.”

Representatives offering some of Sudbury's finer things will be set up at the Steelworkers Hall for the event. On the Reliance Home Comfort Workshop Stage, guests can learn about a variety of things, from how to enhance their energy levels to how to make a stunning and edible centrepiece.

Ransom said the Savour Sudbury Food pavilion is sure to be a hit, too. Guests can sample appetizers and desserts from Bella Vita Cucina, Gluten Free Galore, Legacy Catering, Respect is Burning, Sweeeet! Extraordinary Cakes and Pasty, The Cinco Centavos, Crumbz Bakery, The Laughing Buddha and Verdicchio Ristorante Enoteca.

“For $20, you get to taste it all,” Ransom said. “Everybody loves food.” There are only 200 passports to the Savour Sudbury pavilion — guests are encouraged to arrive early to get one.

Families are also welcome to attend the inaugural Expo. Kid-friendly vendors will be set up at the event, and those five-years-old and up are welcome to hang out in the Top Notch Toys Kids Zone with supervision from area staff. Kids can try their hand at decorating a Sudbury Living magazine cover in an effort to win a colouring contest.

There are also a variety of prizes up for grabs at the Expo. One lucky person will leave with tickets for two to the Gourmet Food and Wine Expo in Toronto, as well as airfare for two, courtesy of Porter airlines.

Admission to the Expo, which runs from 12 to 8 p.m., is $5. Tickets are available at the door.

A full list of workshops, vendors and information about the Expo is available online. Visit www.sudburylivingmagazine.com/expo.
