Greater Sudbury Fire Service had to respond to a small grass fire in a wooded area behind Lockerby Composite School this afternoon.
GSFS Platoon Chief Chris Stokes said many people called 911 to report the fire, but, due to a large amount of smoke, the blaze was not as bad as it looked.
“At this time of year, there’s a lot of dry material on the ground … but the ground is wet, so it creates a lot of smoke,” Stokes said.
