About 4,000 full-time Cambrian College students are registered to start classes today, Sept. 9, after working, vacationing, and studying over the summer.

For many, there is an excitement that comes with the start of a new semester and a feeling of confidence that college is the right place for them, a press release from the college said.

First-year students began their semester with Orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Classes for all students begin Sept. 9.

“There is so much energy on campus right now, and we’re just getting started,” said Rhaili Champaigne, Students’ Administrative Council (SAC) president, in the press release.

“The start of a new school year is always exciting, with so many events, classes, and people on campus.”

All Cambrian students are invited to take advantage of the full Frosh schedule, try out for varsity teams, or join clubs and associations to make the most of their college experience.

“Across the entire college, we are pleased to welcome all new and returning students to the fall semester,” said France Quirion, associate vice-president of student services.

“We want to thank them for choosing Cambrian, and we encourage them to find out about all of our supports and services, and meet our friendly faculty and staff who are on this journey with them.”

Sept. 9 marks the official first day of class, but Quirion added that there is still time for last-minute applications to many Cambrian programs.

“We are still accepting applicants through the Ontario Colleges portal, and we can process last-minute registrations until September 16,” she said.

“It’s easy to visit ontariocolleges.ca, refine your program search, and view all of the open programs. Applying early is always encouraged, but we still have room to welcome students into a great variety of programs.”
