If you heard a blast this morning around 9:30 a.m., it was a controlled explosion at Fisher Wavy's quarry on Kelly Lake Road.

Sudbury.com readers from as far away as Minnow Lake, Copper Cliff and the university area said they felt the blast.

Fisher Wavy regional manager Malcolm Croskery confirmed the company blasted at around 9:30 a.m. It's also planning two more blasts in the near future — this afternoon and possibly tomorrow morning.

He said the company blasts five times a year, and sends fliers out to notify area residents, as well as local authorities.

“It's all controlled blasting,” Croskery said. “We meet all the requirements of the MOE and the MNR as far as noise and vibration.”
