The Sudbury Five fell 123-108 in Newfoundland during their first of three games against the Rogues on April 18.

The Sudbury Five were in action on Thursday night in Newfoundland for the first of three consecutive basketball games against the Newfoundland Rogues, and this one didn’t go according to plan for the visitors.

Both teams were determined to assert themselves on the offensive side of the ball right out of the gate, and after a high scoring first quarter, Sudbury held a 37-33 lead thanks in part to Paul Harrison’s team leading 24 points in the game.

With Armani Chaney heading the pack with an impressive 41 points in the game for Newfoundland, the Rogues came back to score 27 points in the second quarter, and at halftime the teams were all tied up by a score of 60-60.

With help from Marquise Collins’ 27 points in the game, Newfoundland stormed back to take the lead by a score of 85-82 with one quarter remaining in the game.

The Rogues saved their best quarter for last, scoring 38 points while holding Sudbury to just 26, sealing a 123-108 victory for the Newfoundland Rogues.

With the loss, the Sudbury Five now hold a record of 16 wins and 12 losses on the season, with four games remaining in the regular season.

The Sudbury Five once again face the Newfoundland Rogues on Saturday, with tip off scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
