The second annual New Sudbury Days is just around the corner, and you can get into the spirit a bit early this year by stuffing a bus for the Sudbury Food Bank starting Aug. 24.
Northway Bus lines has provided a school bus that will visit various grocery stores in the neighbourhood from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. starting on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the Metro Grocery Store, located at 900 Lasalle Blvd.
The bus then moves to Food Basics at 1800 Lasalle Blvd. on Thursday, Aug. 25, and on Friday, August 26 the bus will be parked at the Real Canadian Superstore at 1410 Lasalle Blvd.
During the New Sudbury Days Festival on Saturday, Aug. 27, the bus will be parked at Ridgecrest Playground from 10-11 a.m., before heading over to the main event at the New Sudbury Centre.
The bus will then be parked at Rotary Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the Outdoor Movie Night. Sunday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Sudbury Centre will be your last chance to help us stuff the bus before the day finishes at the Twin Forks Playground Free Community Barbecue.
With school starting soon, the goal is to the stuff the bus with back-to-school goodies and snacks. Of particular need are granola bars, Jello, drinking boxes, pudding cups, cheese and crackers, fruit cups and cheese strings; basically anything you put into a child's lunch bag. Some school supplies such as paper, pencils, crayons, etc. will also be accepted.
Cash donations are also needed.
A&W will be selling Root Beer Floats from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the New Sudbury Days in the New Sudbury Centre parking lot on Aug. 27-28. All proceeds from the sale of root beer floats will be donated to the Sudbury Food Bank.
