Former Prime Minister Paul Martin will visit Laurentian University tomorrow (April 27) to announce a partnership which will allow aboriginal youth to simultaneously earn high school and university credits.

The partnership is between Laurentian University, the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative, the Rainbow District School Board and the Sudbury Catholic District School Board.

The Martin Aboriginal Initiative was established by the Martin Family in 2006. Its activities are currently focused in two areas: The Capital for Aboriginal Prosperity and Entrepreneurship (CAPE) Fund and the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative (MAEI).

MAEI’s guiding vision is that Canada’s First Nations, the Métis Nation and Inuit people have the necessary education, skills, and supports to take advantage of the widest range of training, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities available.
