Former Sudbury MP Doug Frith is described in his obituary as a charismatic family man who was passionate about his family, friends, and work.

He remained in federal politics from 1980 to 1988. He died of a heart attack in his home in Ottawa March 21.

Frith served as the opposition critic for National Defence and National Health and Welfare during his time in Ottawa before retiring from politics in 1988.

"He could hold a room with his unmatched storytelling," states his obituary. "He loved his children 'to the core' and will never be forgotten."

Frith is survived by his wife Patricia and seven children.

Visitations with the family will be held at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm on Mar. 26. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com .
