A number of Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) staff members were honoured at the school board's June 22 meeting.
The Board recognized members of the CSPGNO’s staff who are on the threshold of a new phase in life, namely retirement: Nicole Laforge, teacher at É. p. Jean-Éthier-Blais; Francine Vandal, teacher at É. p. Camille-Perron, Lynn Fenton, executive assistant at the school board’s head office, Lise Lamontagne, human resource officer at the school board’s head office, Richard Jean, custodian at É. s. Macdonald-Cartier and Donald Rochette, teacher at É. s. Macdonald-Cartier.
Director of Education Marc Gauthier thanked these retirees for their exceptional work and their extraordinary commitment towards the students, the school board and French language public education.
The board salutes these employees and wishes them health and happiness in their well-deserved retirement, a press release said.
The board also recognized the merit and exceptional performance of certain staff members for their contributions to the development of children and youth in CSPGNO schools.
Three awards of excellence are presented annually to recognize the work of staff members who, through their attitude and efforts, uphold the school board’s mission, vision and values, and thus contribute to its success.
The Étoile de l’accueil 2016 Congeniality Award was presented to Cindy Sue Loranger, teacher at É. p. Hélène-Gravel, for her outstanding friendliness towards students in her school. Loranger is always smiling as she strives to ensure the welfare of all the youngsters around her.
Her great generosity and love for children helps her create a warm environment that inspires well-being and confidence among both younger and older students. Her energy and good spirit inspire her peers to do likewise.
The Étoile de l’engagement 2016 Commitment Award was presented to Michel Bélanger, coop education teacher at É. s. Macdonald-Cartier, for his natural leadership abilities and his unfailing commitment to his students and colleagues and to the parents and families at his school.
At all hours of the day, Bélanger is totally devoted to his work environment in order to give every student the opportunity to succeed and evolve as an individual. His commitment and his will to always move forward make him an exceptional role model.
The Étoile de l’innovation 2016 Innovation Award was presented to Gisèle Pelland, library clerk at É. p. de la Découverte, in recognition of her creativity and innovative work methods. Pelland has a great passion for reading and strives to share her passion with students and staff members.
After school hours, she regularly goes to the used book store to find the perfect book for each and every student and staff members and she reads each book herself to be ready to answer any questions they may have for her. Pelland is an exemplary role model and truly an asset to her school community.
