Gateway Casino hopes to reopen sites across Ontario, including Sudbury, late this week, said a spokesperson from the organization. The sites have been closed since April 19 due to a ransomware attack on their cyber systems.

Rob Mitchell, director of communications, told Sudbury.com “we're testing our IT systems and are now working to safely reopen Ontario operations. We anticipate reopening using a phased approach later this week.”

Though Gateway states there is no evidence that personal information has been compromised, they continue to work with “third party experts on a 24/7 basis to determine if there has been any impact on personal information in this case,” they said in a statement on April 21.

Mitchell told Sudbury.com the timelines will depend on the success of testing and the approval of regulatory bodies.

“What's important to know is we are making significant progress,” said Mitchell. “And we believe that we'll be able to begin reopening sites later this week.”
