Get your dinosaur fix tonight: ROM scientist talks Canada’s dino rush

Dr. David Evans to share insights on Wendiceratops and maybe even the newly discovered shin destroyer with the Ghostbusters’ name

Head over to the Atlast Copco Theatre at Dynamic Earth tonight to get your dinosaur fix.

Dr. David Evans, curator of vertebrate palaeontology at the Royal Ontario Museum is in town to discuss — what else — the enormous reptiles that once held Planet Earth in their scaly grip.

The talk begins at 7 p.m. at a cost of $13 for members or $15 for non-members.

Evans will discuss the discoveries of some of Canada's newest dinosaurs, including the super cool horned dinosaur, Wendiceratops.

Dynamic Earth says Evans will also reveal how Canada continues to play a major role in this new dinosaur revolution, contributing a surprisingly large number of new and spectacular species within the last few years.

The rate of new discoveries in Canada is at its highest in almost a century, since the western badlands were first explored.

He will also discuss the large number of newly discovered dinosaur species worldwide in the last two decades, and delve into how these discoveries have enhanced our understanding of dinosaur diversity, the way they lived, and how they evolved.

Evans tweeted earlier today that he will also be discussing Zuul crurivastator, the newly discovered species of ankylosaur named after a monster in the original 1984 “Ghostbusters” film.

You can also take a special tour of Dynamic Earth’s UnEarthed exhibition, facilitated by the good Dr. Evans.
