The 31st annual Sudbury Gem and Mineral Show hits Carmichael Arena starting Friday.
Hosted by the Sudbury Rock & Lapidary Society, the event begins July 19 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and wraps up Sunday at 5 p.m.

Visitors can also watch demonstrations, get a chance to win a door prize of an amethyst geode valued at $500, take in the silent auctions, rest their feet in the video theatre, learn a little something about mineral identification, take part in a field trip Sunday at noon and enjoy a fundraising barbecue by the 23rd Sudbury Rovers.
There will be activities for children as well, and every child who attends will leave the show with a special gift.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, $1 for children (six to 12) and free for children under five. Parking is free.
