Girl donates hair in memory of grandfather she never got to meet

Seven-year-old Haili Bertrand cut her hair last month and donated it to be made into a wig for cancer patients. She braved the scissors in memory of her grandfather, Robert Bertrand, who passed away from lung cancer in 2008.

She braved the scissors in memory of her grandfather, Robert Bertrand, who passed away from lung cancer in 2008.

“Haili never had the chance to meet her grandfather, but that never stopped her from being close to him — his spirit lives strong through her,” a press release from the Canadian Cancer Society said.

Haili also raised more than $2,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, to be put towards lung cancer research.

The little girl said she'd like to donate her hair every year.
