Greater Sudbury Mayor Marianne Matichuk and city council encourage business owners and residents to join them in helping give Greater Sudbury a makeover.

Residents can contribute by participating in the 20-Minute Makeover, which takes place April 19. To take part, people are being encouraged to collect loose litter on their properties and areas nearby and place it in garbage bins or garbage bags.

Businesses that register and provide the before, during and after photographs of their cleanup efforts have a chance to win a one-year recycling collection service from Waste Management.

“Keeping our city clean and beautiful is all of our responsibility,” Matichuk said in a press release. “On behalf of city council, I hope to see a big display of pride in Greater Sudbury — on this day and every day.”

Residents who register and provide the before, during and after photographs of their cleanup can win a backyard composter; a “big blue residential recycling curb side container; or, a one-year supply of certified compostable bags for the Green Cart Organics residential curb side program.

Participants must register at a Citizen Service Centre or visit www.greatersudbury.ca to download a registration form.
