The gymnasium wall at École Alliance St-Joseph in Chelmsford features a new piece of art.

Monique Martel, grandmother to Grade 2 student Hannah Martel, shared her artistic talent and painted the school mascot, a lynx, on the wall.

The project was born out of the desire of the school’s extracurricular team leaders, Stéphane Coutu (early childhood educator) and Christian Séguin (teacher), to find a way to energize their sports teams.

Inspired by the popularity of the school’s logo on sports clothing, Martel painted a lynx with lots of pizzazz. She had help from her husband Yvan and Michelle Boivin, a teacher at the school.

The artists produced a real masterpiece showing a ferocious and dominant lynx hidden in the dark that seemingly jumps out from the wall to dominate anyone brave enough to look its way, a press release said.
