GSPS seize 194 grams of cocaine, $6,000 in cash, during arrest

A 39-year-old from the Greater Toronto Area was arrested and charged in relation to the incident, on suspicion of trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury

Police seized 194 grams of suspected cocaine and $6,000 in cash following the arrest of a 39-year-old Greater Toronto Area man on Feb. 17.

Greater Sudbury Police Service issued a media release about the incident on Feb. 23.

In this release, they note that detectives from the GSPS Drug Enforcement Unit “conducted an investigation regarding an individual from the Greater Toronto Area who was believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury.”

Police arrested the 39-year-old suspect on drug charges. 

Detectives then executed four search warrants in the Greater Sudbury area.

During the arrest and subsequent searches, detectives seized approximately 194 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $19,400 and approximately $6,000 in Canadian currency, according to the GSPS media release.

The suspect was charged the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - over $5,000

The suspect appeared in court on Feb. 17, and was released on a release order.
