The Church of the Epiphany is helping keep residents warm after today's fire at St. Andrew's Place, next door,
"Currently, our Parish Hall is filled with residents taking shelter, staying warm and working with the Red Cross," the Church of the Epiphany posted to Facebook this evening.
"Please pray for the residents of the building as they wait for word as to when they can return to home (or where they can stay if they can’t return home tonight) and for the first responders as they continue to check on those sheltering in place on upper floors and making sure everyone is safe, etc."
The Red Cross is at the Church of the Epiphany, and food has been provided by local restaurants and other locations.
The church is also provide coffee and tea.
Update at 7:24 p.m.
Since the previous report, firefighters continued sweeping the building for residents, and at least two more people were taken out of the building.
One was escorted by firefighters, and the other was taken out by paramedics on a stretcher.
The patient on the stretcher was a senior, and was taken to hospital.
Update at 6 p.m.
The fire at St. Andrew's Place is "under control," Deputy Chief Jesse Oshell told Sudbury.com at approximately 6 p.m.
One person was taken to hospital with "significant smoke inhalation," and two people were treated by paramedics on site, he said.
The fire took place on the fourth floor of the high-rise building, and its resulting smoke migrated to the top floor.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., smoke was seen billowing out of a fourth-floor window at the rear of the Larch Street building in downtown Sudbury.
As soon as the smoke is clear, Oshell said firefighters will go door to door to check on residents.
Ventilation equipment was being used to clear the building of smoke.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Smoke was seen coming out of the windows of residential units at St. Andrew's Place this afternoon.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., a heavy presence of emergency personnel was on site to deal with the fire at the Larch Street high rise in downtown Sudbury.
Larch Street was closed.
