Several communities in the surrounding area are experiencing heavy snowfall in response to a low-pressure system making its way north from Southwestern Ontario.

Manitoulin Island has been issued a Special Weather Statement with around 5-10 cm of snowfall expected by Sunday night.

Strong wind gusts up to 60 km/h are likely to produce blowing snow, reducing visibility.

Environment Canada expects snowfall to end by Sunday night.

There is also a Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect for Parry Sound.

Extreme weather conditions have resulted in 136 new power outages across the province, affecting 39,849 Hydro One customers. This includes for 191 clients near Fairbanks Lake, for which service has been partially restored.

Find updated information on when service will be restored by visiting Hydro One's Outage Map

Conditions have resulted in Air Canada cancelling several flights to and from the Sudbury Airport.
