Thursday, cloudy skies are predicted for most of the day with a 40-per-cent chance of showers.
High winds that started this morning across south western and central Ontario are causing power outages across Hydro One's distribution system, the utility is saying this morning.

It is expected that this weather will move through eastern Ontario later today.

Where safe, Hydro One crews are out assessing damage and starting repairs, the company said in a news release It is expected that the number of customers affected by these storms will increase as the weather system continues to move east.

In Greater Sudbury, 6,253 Hydro One customers are without power at the moment due to the weather. Across the province, more than 37,000 Hydro One customers are without power.

Staying with the weather, the city has crews out monitoring catch basins and water levels around the city. The rainfall has caused over-capacity at the Chelmsford Water Treatment Plant, forcing a bypass of the system.

The city is asking residents to check their streets, as well. If you see ponding or debris blocking a catch basin, please call 3-1-1 to report the location.
