Federal Liberal nominee Marc Serré says he has a plan for the Nickel Belt riding, should he be selected as the party's candidate for the upcoming federal election.

As per 2007 legislation which established the third Monday in October every four years as federal election day, voters head back to the polls to choose a new federal government on Oct. 19.

The Nickel Belt Liberals hold their nomination meeting on Feb. 21.

Gearing up for this, Nickel Belt native Serré has unveiled his platform, built around 10 pillars: Rural Jobs & Economy; Health Care for Seniors;Youth Jobs; Literacy Education; First Nations; The High Cost of Energy; Infrastructure; Natural Foods; Agriculture; and, National Child Care Program.

In a release, Serré said the riding “requires someone to take action and someone to fight for the most important issues.” He said he is part of a new generation of leaders who can provide government services and communicate in a more innovative way.

“As we look into the future of Nickel Belt, I have a vision that will change the way we live, work and play in our community. It’s not just for us, its for our children and their children,” Serré said.

At the same time, he issued a pledge to voters that, if elected, he would take action, and work with “focus and determination.”
