Dynamic Earth reopens for the season with their newest exhibit – Megalodon: Largest Shark that Ever Lived.

Extinct for more than two million years, the Megalodon is considered the worlds biggest predator at 18 metres long. For comparison, the great white shark is measured at 6.8 metres.

“The Megalodon exhibit gives us the chance to showcase current museum research and our extensive paleontology collections,” said Florida Museum Assistant Director for Exhibits Darcie MacMahon.

“Who can imagine an 18-metre shark cruising all the world’s oceans? The evolution and extinction of this giant beast captures our imaginations and inspires us to learn about shark evolution in general and the importance of shark conservation today.”

Every year, Dynamic Earth features a new traveling exhibition. Last year they took Sudbarians back in time to ancient Egypt with King Tutankhamen: Treasures of the Pharaoh's Tomb.

Megalodon: Largest Shark that Ever Lived runs now until Sept. 5.

The exhibit also features research findings of palaeontologists and showcases both fossil and modern shark specimens, as well as full-scale models.
