Don't be surprised if mysterious circles start appearing in farmer's fields and circle researcher Rory Tate shows up in Sudbury next week.

That's because Northwest Fudge Factory owner Chantelle Gorham plans to make a 600-pound peanut butter cup.

She's hoping to beat the world record for the largest peanut butter cup, which is 440 pounds.

“It just seemed like an easy record to break,” Gorham said. “We could do it in our sleep.”

The giant confection is actually being made with the peanut butter substitute Wow Butter, as Gorham is partnering with the company.

To make the cup, she'll pour the ingredients into a circular coroplast frame six-and-a-half feet in diameter.

It's being unveiled to the media at Northwest's Levack headquarters on Tuesday, and will be officially measured next week as well.

People will get a chance to taste the confection on Canada Day, as Gorham will be slicing it up and selling it at the celebrations at Science North and at the Sudbury Arena.

Check back to Sudbury.com next Tuesday to get a look at how the giant peanut butter cup turns out.
