A local student has been named the incoming student trustee at Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon.
Zackary Vaillancourt, a Grade 11 student at École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron), will succeed Mia Toner as student trustee for the District of Sudbury.
He will begin his one-year term on Aug. 1 of this year.
Committed to enriching the French-speaking and Catholic environment of his school, Zackary stands out through his leadership and involvement in the student parliament as well as in the school’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross country, badminton and athletics teams.
He contributes to the success of his school's theme days as well as the welcoming activities for Grade 9 students, sport tournaments and leadership camp.
Zackary will be joined on the board by Mariska Lamothe, a Grade 11 student at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River), who will begin the second year of her term as student trustee for the District of Algoma.
