A Northern Ontario woman from Rosslyn, near Thunder Bay, is the happy and excited winner of the Health Sciences North (HSN) Foundation monthly cash lottery jackpot draw.
Janet Haycock was announced as the winner of the HSN's April 50/50 take home jackpot of $437,968 with ticket number AT-53423201.
“I just couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it. I’ve been playing the HSN 50/50 for a while and never thought I would actually win,” said Haycock.
“This is such an incredible moment in my life. I feel so fortunate. This is a chance for me to clear some bills and support my family and I don’t know if I’ll ever truly grasp it, even when the cheque is in my hands.”
Anthony Keating, president and chief development officer of Foundations and Volunteer Groups at HSN, said he was pleased to hear the excitement when he telephoned Haycock with the good news.
“When we spoke this morning, Janet’s excitement was contagious and it was so great to deliver some truly incredible news to her,” said Keating.
The HSN 50/50 is celebrating a major milestone in May — more than $25,000,000 has been won since the first jackpot back in July 2020, said the Foundation news release.
HSN said the best way to celebrate the milestone is to give away more prizes. May’s HSN 50/50 features 25 early bird draws totalling $70,000 and a guaranteed minimum $500,000 jackpot.
All prize deadlines are at 11:59 p.m. the day before the draw takes place, i.e., to be included in the May 9 th draw, you must have purchased your tickets before 11:59 p.m. on May 8th. Tickets purchased before 11:59 p.m. on May 1st , 2024 are eligible for every draw in May including the grand prize jackpot, said the release.
