Hospital PR role taken on by former Points North host

The former host of the Points North afternoon program on CBC Radio is taking the reins as the new media and public relations officer at Sudbury Regional Hospital.

Dan Lessard has more than 20 years of broadcast and print journalism and extensive community volunteer involvement, stated a press release from the hospital. He will begin his duties at the hospital Oct. 4.

“Dan has a passion for this community. He cares deeply about the people, events and organizations that shape our city,” Viviane Lapointe, the hospital's senior adviser for corporate communications said, in a press release.

“Given the hospital’s vital role in our region, Dan’s commitment and dedication will contribute greatly to our health care system.”

"I'm really excited about joining the team at the hospital. Everyone I've met so far is very passionate about their work and care very much about their patients,” Lessard said.

“I'm looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as we work to make our community's hospital a model for excellence in care, research and teaching.”
