Health Sciences North is asking visitors and out-patients to observe a list of practices to prevent the spread of infection when coming to the hospital for care or to visit a loved one.

"We want to keep our patients safe and ask that visitors observe HSN’s hand hygiene protocols and follow isolation precautions where indicated," said a HSN news release.

Important information for visitors:

  • Visitors are required to check in with the nursing station upon arrival to the unit and to follow all infection control protocols, including hand hygiene and the use of personal protection equipment (PPE), where indicated.
  • Please do not visit patients if you are not feeling well or if you have any of these symptoms: cough, sore throat, fever, runny nose, vomiting and/or diarrhea.
  • Visitors should not travel from room to room during visits.
  • Hand hygiene is the single most important way to prevent the spread of infection. Anyone who enters or exits the hospital, or a patient room, must clean their hands with the hand hygiene product provided.
