Ontario Provincial Police are investigating human remains found by hunters Tuesday in a wooded area approximately 23 km south of Sudbury.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service has provided the OPP's lead investigator, Insp. Tim Millar, with information about Daphne Kochar, the wife of a city doctor who has been missing since Nov. 6.

Investigators are treating the death as suspicious.

A command post has been set up near the body, and OPP investigators are at the scene.

Given the climatic conditions and the location of the remains, it will take several days before the body can be removed and a gender and positive identification can be determined.

Once the remains are removed, a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Sudbury police say they will assist in the investigation if asked by the OPP.
