Hundreds of runners and walkers will hit the streets on May 14 for the Sudbury Rocks!!! Marathon for the Canadian Diabetes.

Greater Sudbury Police Service along with community partners including, COPS volunteers, GSPS auxiliary officers and volunteers from North Shore Search and Rescue will be assisting with traffic control during the race.

All events, including the full 42-km marathon, will be held between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on city streets in the downtown core including Elgin Street, Notre Dame Avenue, Lasalle Boulevard, Attlee Street, Gemmell Street, Falconbridge Road, Second Avenue, Bancroft Drive and Howey Drive.

During this time, those streets will be filled with several hundred runners, marshals and logistical volunteers, said a news release from Greater Sudbury Police.

Various lanes of traffic will be sectioned off with traffic pylons and police personnel will be stationed along the route to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

“Delays and inconveniences are expected to be minimal, however, motorists are asked to be mindful of the marathon participants and other users of these roadways on Sunday morning and be extra vigilant with your speed and attention to traffic signals and officers directing traffic at affected intersections,” said the press release.
