Greater Sudbury Police responded to a call at around 4 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 regarding a possible impaired driver operating a commercial transport truck.
At 4:20 a.m., officers located the truck at the loading/unloading dock of a local business on Notre Dame Avenue and identified the driver as a 55-year-old man from Greater Sudbury.
The officers found two bottles of beer, one open and one sealed in the cab of the transport. While on scene, officers used a roadside screening device and the man registered a fail.
He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.
Once at headquarters, a breath technician officer used an Intoxilyzer on the man and he registered 140 and 120 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood leading to the man being charged with impaired operation.
He was released on a promise to appear with a court date on Oct. 30 to answer to the charge.
"We would like to thank the community member that called in to provide information leading to location and arrest of this individual who made the criminal choice to get behind the wheel while impaired placing our community at risk," said a GSPS news release.
"If you see an impaired driver, please call us immediately. Together we can keep our roads safe!"
