To mark the International Day of Disabled Persons on Monday (Dec. 3), the Independent Living Resources Centre is hosting an awareness celebration in the foyer of Tom Davies Square from 11 am to 1:30 pm.

The annual observance of this day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and to mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of person with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities is the theme for 2007, which stresses the right of persons with disabilities to earn a living from freely chosen work, and to work in an environment that is both accessible and accepting.

Refreshments will be served. Phone Tracy Gregory, director of Fundraising and Community Outreach, at 675-2121 or e-mail [email protected].
