This concert is part of the 2008 Tour: Rocket Man?Number Ones.

Rocket Man?Number Ones, just released in March 2007, debuted in the top 10 and features newly compiled and digitally mastered greatest hits spanning the first three decades of the singer/songwriter’s career.

Original - Sir Elton John has been booked for March 2 at the Sudbury Community Arena, according to an email addressed to city staff.

The email was meant to be a heads-up that tickets were to go on sale Friday, Feb. 1 at 10 am, and warned city employees to buy their tickets online if they expect to get seats to what will likely be one of the biggest concerts in Sudbury's history.

The words “Major concert announcement coming soon” are posted on the arena marquee.

An official announcement is expected to be made soon, but an employee at the Sudbury arena said that “until we get a signed contract it's only a verbal contract.”

johnGhislain Lamothe, manager of corporate communications with the city, neither confirmed nor denied the pending concert announcement.

John, 60, is a world renowned singer and songwriter, famous for producing more than 30 albums, obtaining five Grammy awards, producing hit singles such as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock and, more recently, Candle in the Wind and for his work on the Lion King. He was knighted in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II.
