Today is the 17th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attacks in the United States.
The series of four co-ordinated attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda killed 2,996 people, injured more than 6,000 others and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage.
