Students in Rainbow Schools in Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin and Shining Tree will receive a Guide for Students and Parents the first week of school, which contains important information that will serve as a handy reference throughout the school year.

“On behalf of trustees, I would like to welcome all students and parents/guardians to Rainbow schools and the start of another exciting school year,” said Rainbow District School Board chair, Doreen Dewar.

“As always, parents/guardians are encouraged to take an active interest in their child’s education. Parental involvement improves student achievement. We also welcome community partners to help us mentor and nurture their future workforce. When the home, the school and the community work together, we maximize learning opportunities for students and help them achieve their full potential.”

“The Guide for Students and Parents is our first step to enhance communication between the home and the school,” said director of education Norm Blaseg. “We invite parents/guardians and students to keep this publication as a handy reference throughout the year. It contains information about services, programs and policies, including the updated Code of Conduct. It also features key dates, such as school holidays, provincial assessments, professional activity days, secondary school examination days, information nights and system-wide events.”

The Guide for Students and Parents is available online at www.rainbowschools.ca.
