A fence has been placed around a popular attraction in Kivi Park.

The park released the following statement on its Facebook page June 26.

“Since the opening of Kivi Park in summer 2016, many in our community and beyond have made a wish on the #kiviparkwishingtree,” the statement reads.

“We have enjoyed seeing the hundreds of pictures of park goers sharing in the beauty and magic of the tree. However, with so many visitors wanting to experience the wishing tree for themselves, the #wishingtree is unfortunately becoming damaged.

“The fence has been placed around the tree in order to allow it time to recover.

“Please respect the fence and help us save the tree. Our wish is that many generations to come will have a chance to make their own memories at the #kiviparkwishingtree.”
