The submission period for Music and Film in Motion's 11th Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA) is officially open.

This year, MFM is introducing a new online submission process for both film/television and music award categories, a press release said.

This system will help to simplify the submission process for applicants as well as facilitate the jury process.

Excellence in both the music and film industries in Northern Ontario will be recognized with a total of 13 awards in the following categories: 

  • Best Album 
  • Best Album by a Francophone Artist 
  • Best Engineer 
  • Best Songwriter 
  • Best Vocal Performance on a Recording
  • Best Video by a Northern Ontario Musical Act
  • Best Feature Film 
  • Best Short/Mid-Length Film 
  • Best Television or VOD (Video on Demand) Series 
  • Best Television or VOD (Video on Demand) Episode 
  • Best Director 
  • Best Screenwriter 
  • Best Performance by an Actor in a Northern Ontario Production

The award submissions are juried each year by prominent individuals in the Canadian music and film industries.

All entries must be received by 5 p.m. Jan. 31.

The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony to be held at the Science North Vale Cavern in Sudbury on May 27.
