The Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club donated more than $600*** in support of the Elgin Street Mission.

In mid-April, the club held a lap swimming event, Swimming Laps to Support Charity, which was a win-win for the club as it generated much needed club funds and assisted a local charity that aims to feed and help families in times of needed.

Collectively the swimmers clocked 275 km, which is the equivalent to a car ride to Barrie from the swimming pool at Laurentian University.

Top fundraiser Kiana Smith raised more than $1,200 on her own for the club and the charity by going door-to-door in the community.

"The club wishes to thank its many sponsors who made this event happen which includes Gagnon Opticians, Smitty’s Convenience, Sessions Ride Company, Desjardins Bank and Team Aquatic," said a news release from the club.
