Enjoy the musical stylings of the Laurentian University Choir during their fall concert Friday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the beautiful Ste-Anne-des-pins at 14 Beech St.

This year's concert includes the 20-voice chamber choir of the Sudbury Studio Singers, who will be entering into their second season.

Combined choirs will perform 'The Seasons', Haydn's final oratorio, which speaks to the secular setting of the rural seasons in the 18th century. The group believes this may be the first time the unique composition has been performed in Sudbury.

Guest soloists include soprano Kathleen Promane, tenor Jason Lamont, and baritone Bradley Christensen. More similar to opera than many oratorios, three of the soloists will be portraying the characters of Hannah, Lucas, and Simon; rural personalities who celebrate the changing seasons.

The choir conducted by Dr. Robert Hall, fulfills the role of country folk who largely sing songs of celebration of the passing seasons, including a boisterous drinking song to celebrate the fall pressing of the wine.

Organist Ian Sadler from Stratford will put the Ste-Anne-des-pins organ to the test. The pipe organ is the largest in Sudbury, having been transplanted to the church from Montreal when the building was constructed in 1995. Ste-Anne-des-pins church is also known for its splendid acoustics, which will reverberate with the sounds of the fifty-voice choir.

Advance tickets are available at Grove’s-YIG, and Jett Landry Music. General Admission is $20 and Students and Seniors $15.
