The Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury (LDAS) held its 8th Annual Fundraising Awards Dinner in April and once again, it was held virtually.
The annual event recognizes individuals and community partners who have contributed to the successful and continuous growth of the organization.

Valérie Lariviere - Ron Lessard Outstanding Parent Award
This award recognizes a parent of a child who has been identified with a learning disability. The recipient of this award is a steady, reliable and attentive presence in their child’s life. They are always seeking knowledge that may help with their child’s success.
LDAS Resilient Learner Award: Lochlan MacNeil
This award recognizes exceptional student determination and hard work despite facing learning challenges. This student is diagnosed with a learning disability and demonstrates an unwavering commitment to their education. They tackle academic obstacles with admirable perseverance, serving as an inspiration to both peers and educators.
Outstanding Educator Award: Lise Orsini (Rainbow District School Board), Katie Kurt (Sudbury Catholic District School Board), Crystal Bruneau (Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord) and Roxane Bigras (Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel Ontario
LDAS Outstanding Educator Awards recognizes an exceptional educator committed to evidenced-based practices, a continuous pursuit of learning, and dedicated efforts to support all students, particularly those with learning disabilities. Their genuine passion for inclusivity and equity creates an environment where every learner can thrive. Notably, this person exemplifies a growth mindset through active engagement in professional development, and contributing to the improvement of our educational community.
