Library hosting Earth Day celebration on Monday

The Greater Sudbury Public Library on MacKenzie Street will be hosting an Earth Day celebration with performances, activities and snacks

An Earth Day celebration is slated to take place at the main branch of the Greater Sudbury Public Library on MacKenzie Street on Monday. 

The event will include performances, activities and snacks, all falling under an Earth Day theme. 

During this event, the results of Project Impact 2024, in which community stewards applied for funding for various projects, will be announced.

The performances and announcements will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Some of the performances and activities include:

  • Singing and sing-a-long with Paula Majury Truskoski
  • Original poem read by Poet Laureate Kyla Heyming
  • Project Impact 2024 results announcement
  • Teaching and activity with Anishinaabek artist and educator Will Morin
  • Crafts and making
  • “Cress head” seed planting
  • Seed library and sustainable gardening information
  • Snacks

Public Transit will be free to attend the event, with participants asked to tell the GOVA Transit operator they are travelling to or from the Earth Day celebration.

The event is hosted by Better Beginnings Better Futures Indigenous Led Program, Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Public Library and Junction Creek Stewardship Committee.

“Come celebrate Mother Earth and community with us,” Coalition for a LIvable Sudbury Naomi Grant said in a media release.
