Lights, Camera, Entertainment, and a fundraiser on the shores of Ramsey

A fundraising event hosted at the Northern Water Sports Centre brings the latest film technology to the north

Calling all camera and film enthusiasts: ever wondered what kind of cameras film crews use, what types of lighting equipment are available?

Ever wanted to visit the sets of your favourite movie and see how the action is captured?

There is good news, and you won't have to travel far.

On Saturday, Sudbury.com joined invited guests at an event that gave attendees the chance to get up close and personal with the latest cameras, lighting & grip equipment commonly used in film production.

Lights, Camera, Entertainment - North and partner organizations Inspired Image & CTS hosted the evening, while the Northern Water Sports Centre on Ramsey Lake offeredo a picturesque setting for the fundraising event.

“We wanted to come together to share and promote the culture of this great Northern area,” Roger Williams, President and CEO of Inspired Image said.

“In the Northern region we have a great can-do attitude, where people want to help and be part of the film community, so we wanted to bring that back and ask them to come out and actually play with some of the equipment,” Williams added.

An interesting variety of camera lens, mounting equipment and the latest sound and live-streaming gadgets were on the preview for the attendees.

Apart from the cool gadgets, the event also played host to local musical and artistic talents that kept the audience mesmerized.

Up and coming, local artist, Ruby Gibson exhibited some of her paintings while she painted another masterpiece from start to finish and was auctioned off during the event.

All proceeds collected from the auction were donated to Junction Creek Stewardship committee.

“We chose Junction Creek because Roger from Inspired Image has spearheaded a movement with his documentary called Riverblue to protect waterways, and we wanted to play a part in protecting local waterways,” said Patrick Tobin of Inspired Image.

Other entertainment included live musical performances by northern artists, David Dino White and Rose-Erin Stokes.

If you missed out on the chance to play with some equipment, Sudbury.com has you covered. Check out our photo gallery for some of the cool technology and art that was on display
