The Rainbow District School Board announced on Aug. 31 that a number of its schools could be closed or consolidated in the near future.
Lively District Secondary School is among the school's that could be closed as early as next September and the community is rallying against the decision.
Lively parents are holding a meeting at the community's high school Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. to form a committee that would present public input to the board about its plans for the school.
Karry Strelezki has also started an online petition, "Stop the Closure of Lively District Secondary School" and has already gathered 272 online signatures of support.
The petition has set a goal of 500 supporters.
