Krishna Sridhar, a Grade 8 student at Algonquin Road Public School, has achieved a rare perfect score in the prestigious Gauss International Mathematics Contest.
“Krishna is a very keen math student,” said Algonquin principal Cathy Nursall, in a press release. “We are extremely proud of his achievement. It is a testament to his hard work and dedication.”
“I prepared for the Grade 8 Gauss Contest for half a year,” said Sridhar. “My hard work really paid off on the last five questions. They took a lot of problem-solving skills and out-of-the-box thinking. It was a fun and challenging experience."
Rainbow District School Board director of education Norm Blaseg commended Sridhar for his success. “We congratulate Krishna for his diligence and dedication. What a wonderful way to end the school year,” he said.
The Gauss International Mathematics Contest is an annual competition facilitated by the University of Waterloo.
